If they were jamming pamphlets in my face or screaming at me and my family to repent and be saved, I would probably call it antagonistic. I suppose the LDS approach to gays could be seen as similar to either of those. I would hope my own approach is more consistent with the former.-L-https://www.blogger.com/profile/02854867259876731599noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33131983.post-72367931588594824802007-05-15T13:36:00.000-07:002007-05-15T13:36:00.000-07:00Thanks L."I don't care for the word "antagonistic"...Thanks L.

"I don't care for the word "antagonistic" either"

I'm wondering now if the word exists. If you remember I started with ‘hostile’ and dropped that. Does anything refer to causing a person pain without additional positive or negative qualification?

It is antagonizing to the focus of such behavior, and I see it is a problem of perspective. When, say, non-LDS Christians try to 'help' LDS towards their idea of God in ways the LDS find troubling for the same parental-esk reasons, how would you characterize that?Scothttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12350801865113852319noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33131983.post-87188407980897633372007-05-14T15:19:00.000-07:002007-05-14T15:19:00.000-07:00I don't care for the word "antagonistic" either, a...I don't care for the word "antagonistic" either, although your post is very good at showing the relevant inadequacies of language. I don't consider myself antagonistic to my children when I put them to bed, or give them unwanted medicine, or expect certain behaviors from them. They may feel that way, but precisely the opposite is the actual case.-L-https://www.blogger.com/profile/02854867259876731599noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33131983.post-18849497445582809232007-05-13T13:00:00.000-07:002007-05-13T13:00:00.000-07:00"I agree. Look at our puppy in the next post. That’ll help.

Iwonder

“I don't know what to believe anymore.”

I know it sucks, but that is an opportunity that many folks never get. There are Mulslims, Buddhists, LDS, Catholics, and atheists out there who have believed about ethics and the supernatural what they’ve always believed. No reason to question and they can’t all be right.

I hope you find a way through this that you feel is right. Again, I’ll answer most anything I can from my end.Scothttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12350801865113852319noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33131983.post-46131068133883215402007-05-11T11:21:00.000-07:002007-05-11T11:21:00.000-07:00This whole topic is one of the things that bothers...This whole topic is one of the things that bothers me the most. I know, of course that none of it is motivated by hate, but that doesn't really ameliorate the pain of having to live like this.

I am told that what I want more than anything else is fundamentally wrong, even though it feels so right to me. And, I believe it and at the same time, I don't. I don't know what to believe anymore.

More than anything I want to have a normal life with a family, but apparently, I am one of the "special few" who is to be denied that privilege in this life. Why? Because my version of a family, the only version I can honestly entertain, is fundamentally "immoral" and "wrong".

I just cannot wrap my mind around it all. It makes no sense to me.Craighttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09374110841642375968noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33131983.post-64070863276203975402007-05-11T10:57:00.000-07:002007-05-11T10:57:00.000-07:00this has got me so worked up I don't even know whe...this has got me so worked up I don't even know where to start.

...The road to hell is paved with good intentions...

...By their fruits ye shall know them...

...Blarg!
