Egg Help 2

Back to more serious topics. Easter. As I explained here, it’s a big deal for our clan and I’m still working on the puzzles.

I kind of went in a new direction for the golden egg, and am still hoping for input. Below is a quick draft of the clue. It would take time to solve it, entirely, but I’m curious as to if anyone can understand how they would start off by the clues I’ve given. So, you’re flush with candy and coins you’ve hatched from plastic eggs, and you’re hoping to find the great gold egg using the following:

I wish I could make it rhyme while still keeping all the clues but I ain't that talented. Anyway, the trouble with making puzzles is that it’s much easier to make them than solve them. So, will my nieces and nephews once again curse their uncle, or is this decipherable?

I’m still not sure what I’ll do for the bronze egg, so any suggestions… (what? no puzzle, Easter egg hunt fans out there? I could have sworn this was a gay part of me ;-))

(and if any of you MoHo’s are actually a nephew or niece of mine and you use this opportunity to cheat, I’ll know it ;-))

It's not too hard if you have the right resources available, like the internet or a habit for the arcade. ;)

Once I deciphered the location, it didn't make much sense to me, maybe I have to unscramble it or know the area in question...

Thanks, that was an enjoyable journey!

Oh, the process!

It was obvious from the end of your cryptic description of the hunt that the weird formula looking thing was the key - it had to somehow translate into the word egg. I matched that up with the phrase on top that ended in egg and tried first to find some kind of mathematical correlation between the letters and the numbers. I thought the numbers represented two letters in the name of the state and that if I subtracted or divided them, I would get a numerical representation of the letter.

There were a couple letters that seemed to work if I found the two letters, added the number together and then divided in half, thanks to that part of the clue, but it didn't work for the others.

I looked at all the numbers in parentheses and noticed that excluding the words first and last, the numbers only went as high as (3,7). I noticed that there were exactly seven bolded phrases, so I thought it may corresponde to those. Nope.

I thought maybe it had to do with something in the hunt locale on a previously existing grid system, but it didn't make sense that you were asking us for help if that were the case. Besides, it left out the obvious connection to the abbreviated states.

I thought perhaps this was a red herring, so I tried to find words in the clue that contained the two letters in the state abbreviation (since the clue also said something about the answer being housed in the clue) and then search for the letter that corresponded with the numbers, but that didn't seem to work with more than one letter.

The extra words in the location threw me for another loop. The out of many, one clue set me in the right direction, since I am familiar with the latin phrase for it and where that can be found. After that, all the clues made obvious sense, and I had a good time switching windows between a website and yours to get each letter.

Highly enjoyable.

Scot, are any of your nephews or nieces old enough to pull a knife on you?

lol

Hey, they don’t get to use the internet, until at least an hour of whining goes by.

Yeah!!!

Foxx, you want to be my honorary nephew? :-) I’m so glad someone got it, as now I can tell’em all to stop complaining.

Yes, but, of them, all are old enough to also know not to carry out the fantasy with witnesses about. I try to keep in a crowd.

(Thanks, playasinmar, you gave me a good laugh, if only you knew how some of them might identify with your comment… I’m trying to be better about it, but I don’t just want to give the egg away :-))

FYI all the words in the font of “housed” are synonyms for… You guessed it. (well, save for the past tense there :-)) Same goes for the font of “say”. Maybe I need to make the difference clearer.
