What get’s me is that they think it’s somehow significantly less offensive and less inhumane to replace ‘the person’ with ‘the family’ in such a news story. Either they don’t see their family the same way I see mine or they’ve already dehumanized gay people.

You’ll hear it even in Utah too, though most people here, legislators included, have polygamists as great great grandparents, as it used to be part of the LDS faith. I’ve got’em on both sides.
