I downloaded the free creature creator for the boys; such things are right down Brian's alley and I think they're a good exercise of creativity. It wasn't long before he reproduce our family:

I can see the resemblence. ;)
My older brother showed me that demo when he visited me in San Antonio, and it looks like it would have been extremely complex to put together. We were talking about it in my game design course, and apparently Spore has been in development for 3.5 years.
It does indeed look like fun.
